On Cooking… February 1, 2010

Filed under: about hubby, about me, food — ninjathet0312 @ 9:22 am

Chicken Afridata, Beef Steak, Kare-Kare, Nilaga, Sinigang, Menudo.. these are just few of the many dishes I have learned to cook the past 2 months. I never really knew that I have the cooking prowess until I got married hubby went back home last November. For I know that he is already tired eating take-out and fast food menu, it was my silent mission to fill his tummy with home-made dishes. Cooking can be tiring and sometimes, frustrating too. But seeing hubby enjoys and eat a lot when I cook, there can be no other grand prize for the effort. Hubby is going to stay with us for less than one year. And with that, I have to make the most out of the short stay that we are going to have.

Oh before I forget, I also now make money out of my cooking skills. I tend to cook more than what we consume so what I do is that I set aside 3-4 servings which in turn will be sold to my closest friends in the office. Wais eh! LOL :)

Enjoying Independence January 27, 2010

Hubby arrived from the US last November but it was only late December when we finally moved to my apartment. I’ve been keeping this apartment for almost 2 years now while Terrence is being left behind either in Cavite or QC. For a month, we’ve been nanny-less. Yes, it was really tough for me since I’ve had a nanny for TJ since he was born. But I am just thinking now that being nanny-less somewhat prepares me for the life that is gonna be ahead for us when we migrate to US sometime next year. I think hubby was the one who got more stressed during this transition period. We also bought a lot of household stuff, things that I never bought before since I am just living in the apartment alone. Hubby’s task is to take care of TJ while I do the laundry, cooking, ironing and cleaning of the house. On top of that, I am a working mom. Life was hard last month but I enjoy every moment of it.

For now, we already have a nanny and I am pretty happy with her performance. I hope that the performance won’t change as time goes by.

TJ’s First Birthday January 25, 2010

Filed under: all about terrence, celebration — ninjathet0312 @ 3:57 am

TJ’s real birthday was on September 27. But due to typhoon Ondoy, we had no other option but to cancel the celebration. Not only that loads of money were wasted but also time and effort of almost 7 months party preparation. I was really stressed out scouting for new venue within the Metro. I was such a loser for I didn’t find any venue for our preferred date. With that, it left me with no other choice but to have the party done in Cavite. Albeit disappointed, the cancellation of birthday party was a blessing in disguise for hubby was able to join the celebration. Had it been celebrated on September, he would still be in L.A.

Though the grand party I dreamed for my  baby didn’t come into reality, I am still happy that my dear friends (even those who are from the north) came to celebrate this special day with us. The supplier ratings will have a separate entry. For now, I’ll end this blog with a family photo during the party :)

Hope you guys will have a fine week ahead. :)

I’m back!!! (with a yaya…) January 18, 2010

Yes!

I am back. After 3 months of being hiatus,I am now back to my regular blogging. I guess, I can blame the lost of blog enthusiasm on Typhoon Ondoy. Imagine, I have prepared well for my son’s first birthday. All suppliers have been set. All decorations (including my battalion of helpers) are all set too. But my dream party for my son have just been shattered by Ondoy. *Sigh* 8 months of planning has just been wasted. Anyhoo, I lot has happened in the past 3 months and I cannot finish them all in one post. I’ll try to update this blog, little by little. For now, I am just ecstatic that we’re gonna have a yaya again :) So I am dedicating the rest of this entry for the new yaya. :)

1. Frederique – We had a yaya who claimed she was being courted by a kapre in her province and wanted to take her to his kingdom. Her reason for turning down the offer to be his queen? “Kapre yun ma’am, malaki ang kwan nun! Wag na tuy!”

2. Ivan – Kid: “Yaya look, boats!” Yaya: “Dows are not boats, they’re yachts.” Kid: “Yaya, spell yachts?” Yaya: “Yor rayt, dey are boats.”

3. Sam – Woman carrying sick baby enters doctor’s office. Doc: “Bottlefed?” Woman: “Breastfed po.” (Doctors squeezes woman’s breasts repeatedly) Doc: “Ayan ang problema, wala kang gatas, eh.” Woman: “Yaya lang po ako doc!”

4. William & Luli – The eggs that yaya bought turned out to be rotten. She stormed back to the grocery and told the vendor: “Manong, ang baho ng itlog niyo!”

5. No name – My mom asked our yaya to buy Inquirer and Star. Our yaya came back and said: “Ma’am, wala pong Inquirer kaya bumili nalang po ako ng dalawang Star!”

6. Cutie Girl – Yaya: “Huhuhu…”

7. Curt Smith – (Earlier) Mom: “Yaya, lagay mo yung pesto sa ref!” (Later) Son: “Yaya, nakita mo PS2 ko?” Yaya: “Nasa ref, pinalagay ng mama mo!”

8. Fuzzy Secretary – Just now my maid burned a hole in my uniform. I angrily asked her, “Paano mo naman nasunog to?” She answered: “Secret!”

9. Dew Berry – After watching a movie, our yaya blurted out: “Ang pangit naman, happy ending!”

Mom: “It’s up to you.” (During dinner) Mom: “Yaya, bakit ketsup at tuyo ang ulam?” Yaya: “Diba nung tinanong ko kayo kung anong lulutuin ko, sabi niyo, ‘kitsup tuyo’!”

12. Aries – Our neighbor’s yaya: “Junjun, chew your mouth!”

13. Abelski – Our yaya sa sari-sari store: “Miss isang Coke in can at isang Sprite na Coke in can…”

14. Ken – SIR: “Inday, si sir mo to, nabangga kotse ko & I need cash!” INDAY: “Aru, dugo-dugo gang ka no?” SIR: “Gaga! Si sir mo talaga to!” INDAY: “Gago ka rin! Si sir ang tawag sa kin…kapkeyk…”

15. SC – I once asked my yaya where the Netherlands is located. She answered: “Diba dun nakatira si Peter Pan?”

16. No name – Ate: “O yaya, bakit ka umiiyak?”

17. Geyp – We saw our yaya staring intently at the orange juice bottle. Sabi namin: “Yaya, anong ginagawa mo?” Yaya: “Shhh! Nakalagay sa bote, ‘concentrate’…”

18. S44 – Neighbor’s yaya telling her ward to climb down the stairs: “Down to earth! Down to earth!”

20. Astroboy – We paid for the tuition fee of our yaya’s son. So one day I was reviewing him: “The Earth is the 3rd planet from the sun. Ano ang katabi ng Mercury?” His mom, our yaya, answered: “Parang Watson’s yata…”

21. No name – Sir: “Yaya, natanggal mo yung mantsa sa barong ko?” Yaya: “Opo! Tanggal na tanggal!” Sir: “Good! Anong pinang-tanggal mo?” Yaya: “Gunting, kuya! Gunting!”

22. Ivan – Yaya to tricycle driver: “Magkano sa City Hall?” Driver: “Ikaw lang?” Yaya: “Ay bakit, hindi ka sasama?”

24. Mr. Perk – Kid: “Yaya, spell orange?” Yaya: “Depende. Yung kulay o yung prutas?”

25. Yñaki – Midget Yaya who was newly hired: “Suwerte po kayo, ako ang napili niyo. At least kung maibagsak ko si baby, mababa lang!”

26. Sawyer – Yaya to my brother: “Nag tothbrush ka na ng ipin?” Bro: “Siyempre, alangan namang mag toothbrush ako ng kilikili!”

27. Geyp – (after being scolded for breaking her promises): “Ma’am, hindi na po ako mangangako ulit…promise!”

28. Jose de vengenge – Yaya buys food at McDo. Crew: “Dito niyo na po ba kakainin?” Yaya: “Puwede sa table?”

29. Ivan – AMO: “Bakit namatay ang aso?” MAID: “Pinaliguan ko po ng laundry soap.” AMO: “Nakamamatay ba yun?” MAID: “Ewan ko nga po eh, pag-off ko ng washing machine patay na.”

30. Ehem – Yaya picking up the phone saying: “ Hilo ?” We noticed that she was holding the handset ng baligtad. We told her, “Yaya, baliktad!” Then Yaya said: “Lohi?”

Ann and Joebel September 22, 2009

Location: Fort Santiago Intramuros

One thing I learned when taking photographs is that lighting plays a big part in capturing great pictures. This also goes with bringing a tripod lalo na kapag malakas magshake ang kamay ng kumukuha. Damay ang clarity and focus area. And oh, let’s not discount the ever changing weather. ArRrrrgghh!

I realized that despite of the fact that capturing still life photos takes a lot of principle (in fact, a lot more than taking pictures of real people), it is really difficult to take photos of human subject. Why? Ang flower, food, gadget or non- living things won’t complain regardless of the time you take photographing them or miski anong position ang ipagawa/set. Mainit man o malamig ang weather, they won’ mind. But human? Oh God, as a photographer, you have to be quick when changing your settings (oh by the way, I no longer use P, A, or Auto mode…lagi manual mode na.. hehehe). Otherwise, pag nangawit o nainitan model, magrereklamo na yan. ‘Nuf of my blabs!

Ann (bride), Joebel (Groom),Fei (the very chikadora friend of the bride) and I went to Fort Santiago area around 3pm. At 2:30pm, the sun was still mighty. Around 2:45, it started to drizzle and hello world! wala na ang magandang natural light na inaasam ko. We were not able to take much pictures kasi di nga nakisama ang weather. Tsk Tsk tsk. Di bale. Next time na lang :)

Joebel is into photography din pala. He owns a DSLR and I’m encouraging him nga to join the workshop. Ann on the other hand has an inborn talent na magpose… parang America’s Next  Top Model lang. LOL I am not yet done resizing their pics so I’ll just leave you guys with two pictures.

Ging and Mark September 21, 2009

I almost didn’t make it to this prenup pictorial. I know I caused Ging so much stress when I texted her about my “emergency” but she is really a darling. She has this very perky (positive way ha!) personality. She is very ma-chika like me, so to speak. Hindi daw sya “prepared”. They just went to the venue with full of props in their bags. LOL. Mark, on the other is Mr. Nice Guy. I even teased Ging na kapag siguro nag away sila, walang kasalanan si Mark kasi mukhang ang bait-bait ni mark..LOL I thought I am going to have a hard time making him pose/feel at ease with the camera (eh kamusta pare-pareho kami amateur as photographer/model) but surprise of all surprise! As soon as I clicked on my shutter button, he just kept on smiling. Hahahahaha!  Mark is a medical doctor while Ging is a dental doctor. They have lots of nice pictures but I am going to share only one (in this site…).

I’m sorry if I don’t have quality updates for now. It’s just that I am still busy preparing for TJ’s birthday and add to that, I still have a workshop to complete. Though I am not really a camwhore, I am having a great time taking photos of my family members.

I took this photo yesterday just in time when the sun slightly peeked at the cloudy sky. I love my niece’s facial expression to his lolo (my father). My mom likes it too so we’re gonna have this enlarged to an 8×10 photo.

20 Days September 7, 2009

…and we’re now having a count down. Twenty more days to go and sweet pea will be celebrating his first birthday. That is exactly the reason why I haven’t updated this blog for a while. I got a lot of stuff to deal with. Yikes! Big Boy na! At 11 months 3 weeks, TJ now has 8 teeth. Though he still can’t walk on his own for long. He can now do 4-6 steps before he gets out-balanced. He is surely madaldal and it’s so kakahiya during mass especially when the commentators would announce to keep the children quiet.

This is just an uber quick post. I have just thought of snapping a couple of pictures of my niece and TJ before their bathing time. :)
